very happy mamma to be - do something special for her this mothers dayMother’s Day is just around the corner, and I know there are tons of expectant mothers out there that simply cannot wait until they get to celebrate their first Mother’s Day. Guess what, there really isn’t any reason to make them wait. There are a number of really cool gift ideas that will make the expectant mom feel wonderful. Yes, as a mom I can tell you that there is nothing in the world like the very first homemade Mom’s Day present from your little one, but waiting for that moment is difficult. So for everyone that knows a Mom in Waiting, here are a number of great gift ideas to help show here that the joy of being a mom is just beginning.

First suggestion, get the mom to be a day of pampering at a local spa. This is a wonderful gift for any mom really, but especially a mom that is still touting the little one in the womb. A pregnancy massage, pedicure (especially for the mom that can’t even see her toes anymore) and a manicure is an excellent package to make sure that Mom to Be feels like a million bucks on Mother’s Day.

The next Mother’s Day gift idea for the mom to be is a new type of ultrasound. Instead of the simple black and white, flat ultrasound you can get mom to be a 3D, 4D or thermal imaging ultrasound. Talk to the OB/GYN where the mom to be goes about where they send their patients for an ultrasound and then contact that office to purchase a gift certificate. There is something really amazing about seeing your baby, still inside, looking like a little human in the real world.

If there is one thing that few pregnant moms ever splurge on when they are pregnant are pajamas. We normally end up in our husband’s boxers or flannel pants, over sized t-shirts or sweats. Its insane really, but it is something that we just don’t think about. It doesn’t help that many brick and mortar stores have all but eliminated the maternity department. Find a Motherhood and Maternity or check out one the hundreds of sites online for feminine “I feel wonderful” pjs for the mom to be. It is a gentle reminder that yes we will be a mom soon, but we are still a sexy woman and you see us as such.

One of my favorite gift ideas that I came across is a photo album. Not another baby book, but spend some time and gather a bunch of pictures of the mom to be in her life before pregnancy. Put them all together in a nice photo album, maybe add a few captions and give it to Mom to Be. I have to tell you as a mom of three I don’t really remember life before kids. Not that I would change one day that I have had with them or will have with them, but sometimes it is nice to have the “Oh yea..” moment.

If you have a creative flair, you may consider getting blank “Thank You” cards and stamping /decorating them for the mom to be. You can even include the return address on the envelope and put a stamp on them for mom to be. Thank you cards are important to have on hand for all of the gifts you usually get for baby once he or she arrives, but with a new baby having the time to sit and fill them all out. You can even include a generic but heartfelt message already inside. “Thank you very much for your heart felt gift.”

A final recommendation is day off the feet for the mom to be. Arrange a day where you can go over, or hire someone else to go and clean the house and or do laundry for the mom to be. The more pregnant we get, the nicer it is to have someone come and make our lives a little easier. Actually that is an excellent piece of advice if you aren’t interested in the above recommendations. Think about things that will make mom to be life a little easier while she is growing a beautiful baby inside.
