The final stage of pregnancy can cause anxiety for many women.
Fear of labor is real. A study done in Sweden in 2001 showed that fear resulted in more medication used in labor. The study was done on first time mothers and showed that more drugs were needed for women who exhibited fear before and during labor. Fear can take many forms, such as the fear of the unknown, pain or fear that results from hearing horror stories from friends or family about difficult labors.
Fear of labor has gained attention in recent years. In the year 2000, an article in the British Journal of Psychiatry addressed this fear. It is known as tokophobia, or the fear of childbirth. This fear is now classified as a psychiatric disorder. The study discussed in the article showed that fears resulted in an increase in night mares and panic attacks.

Your baby is just about ready to be born. The lungs finish developing this month. When they are developed, they release a substance called surfactant. This helps the baby breathe at birth. Recent research suggests this substance may have another purpose. It is believed it may signal the mother’s body to begin the labor process.
The baby is settling down into a fetal position. As the baby moves lower in the pelvis, breathing may become easier. This is called lightening. The baby rolls and moves, but kicks are lighter. You may notice more regular pattern of sleeping and waking. Some mothers say their newborns continue these patterns after birth. More on Ninth Month of Pregnancy

Depression is one of the most common complications during and after pregnancy. Postpartum depression can be mild or moderate, but can be treated by psychotherapy or medications. However, if a woman’s depression is severe, she may be given both treatments.
Women who experience severe premenstrual syndrome tend to suffer from postpartum depression after pregnancy. Mothers with postpartum depression love their newborns, but feel incapable of becoming good mothers.
There are numerous reasons why pregnancy can make a woman depressed. A stressful event and hormone changes are the two leading factors that could trigger of depression, which could cause chemical changes in a woman’s brain. Sometimes, the cause of depression is unknown.
In days past it would often take weeks to get the results of a pregnancy test, after a visit to your doctor. Today, when you start to experience some of the early signs of pregnancy, you can have the answer in minutes.
Home pregnancy tests work much the same way as those carried out by professional labs. Both test for the presence and level of a hormone called hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) in blood or urine. Blood samples are considered more reliable, but certainly less pleasant, particularly for home tests. Most of them test urine.
Two criteria chiefly determine the worth of a home pregnancy test: readability and sensitivity.
